Yoga can be seen as the action (the practice and discipline to control the rising of the mind) or the final goal or state which is the experience of the still mind ..
Chakras are the energy centers in our body through which energy flows . The ancient Yogis in India described the energy systems that exist in our subtle bodies of energy fields . The modern science corroborates this fact and describes that the location of each chakrais associated with a major nerve plexus and a major endocrine gland . The energy of the chakras can affect the systems that are under the control of nerves and the endocrine glands. The endocrine system affects almost every organ and cell in the body , it produces hormones that regulates our metabolism , growth and development ,tissue function ,reproduction,sleep and mood. When energy is blocked or stuck in one of the chakras , the functioning of the corresponding endocrine gland may be altered , which can create imbalance in the production of hormones.
The main function of a nerve plexus is to ensure that all areas of the body are able to send and receive messages from the peripheral nervous system . Each Chakra is connected to several organs via the nervous system so when energy is blocked or congested in the Chakra , communication can be altered affect the functioning of the organs , possibly resulting in disease .
Physiological dysfunction in any organ reflects the energy imbalance in the Chakra which sefrves that part of the body. While blocked energy could lead to degenerative diseases like myocardial infarctions, pulmonary congestion , liver cirrhosis ,Alzheimer’s etc., the excess flow of energy , on the other hand , could result in hyper-functioning of organs and lead to disorders like hypertension , inflammation or even cancer . It is therefore important to keep our Chakras in balance for normal functioning of the organ systems .
Yogic practices are designed to maintain the energy homeostasis for a healthy life .
